Our story

The David family has been part of the funeral profession since 1937. In 2013, Royal David and his family moved from Louisiana to Rocky Mount and began serving local families at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, where many members of the family still work today.

With decades of experience, Royal and his family saw that their Rocky Mount neighbors needed a more affordable option, one that did not mean giving up the care families expect. In 2019, they started Blue Star Cremation.

Through simple online arrangements, Blue Star Cremation offers the same devotion and care as a traditional funeral home, with added convenience and affordability. Families can choose a plan, sign authorizations, and pay online from wherever they are, and our professional staff is still here for you and your family when you need us most.

Owner Royal David leads Blue Star Cremation and Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home with his family beside him, including his wife, Elizabeth, and their sons, Dexter and Kemp. For the Davids, caring for families is a calling handed down over more than 85 years, and they bring that same commitment to every family Blue Star serves.
